Tell us about yourself, your role, and how you started with The Ortus Club.
I’m Jerome Isip, currently the Head of Recruitment at The Ortus Club. I oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, from sourcing and screening to onboarding top-tier talent for our growing team. I started with Ortus around four years ago as an HR Coordinator, with a strong focus on recruitment. Back then, I managed and facilitated our group interviews. Over time, I helped evolve and streamline the recruitment process into the structured system we have today. It’s been an exciting journey watching the company and our team grow.
Can you name anyone who has had a lasting, positive impact on your career? What did they do for you?
One person who has had a lasting impact on my career is Jessica Circi, one of the co-founders of The Ortus Club. I had the opportunity to work closely with her when I first joined the company, and her mentorship was instrumental in my growth. She pushed me to take initiative, trust my instincts, and approach challenges with both confidence and creativity.
What stood out most was her commitment to excellence. Jess set a high bar for quality and performance, and she expected those around her to meet it. That environment challenged me to raise my own standards and develop a stronger sense of ownership and discipline in my work. Her no-compromise approach to doing things right continues to influence how I lead and make decisions today.
What makes you the best at what you do? What values drive you to perform even better?
I’d say it’s my ability to identify high-performing talent that aligns with our unique culture. After years of immersing myself in the Ortus environment, I’ve developed a strong sense of what makes someone thrive here. It’s not just about skills, but also mindset and attitude. I’m driven by a commitment to quality and a passion for helping build a team where people feel challenged, supported, and empowered. I value integrity, consistency, and the long-term impact of each hiring decision.
What’s the most challenging part of your role, and how do you overcome this challenge?
One of the most challenging parts of my role is scaling recruitment while maintaining the quality and cultural fit we aim for. As we grow, it’s easy to feel pressure to fill roles quickly, but I’ve learned that the cost of a poor hire is far greater than the time it takes to find the right one. I overcome this by continuously refining our recruitment process, maintaining close collaboration with team leads, and training others to assess candidates with the same high standards.
What’s one achievement you are particularly proud of?
One achievement I’m particularly proud of is helping build a recruitment process that not only brought in some of our top-performing team members but also made the candidate experience more engaging and efficient. Comparing the initial recruitment process we had years ago to the system we have today is something I find incredibly rewarding. Seeing people I hired grow into leadership roles and thrive within the company is a reminder that recruitment is about more than just filling seats. It’s about shaping the future of the company.
What do you think the future holds for The Ortus Club? What role will you play towards it?
The future of The Ortus Club is all about scaling impact. We’re expanding our global reach, refining our offerings, and continuously raising the bar for what we do. To achieve that, we need exceptional talent who not only meet the demands of today but can also lead us into tomorrow. My role is to ensure we’re bringing in the right people—top performers who align with our culture and are driven to push boundaries.
I’m focused on building strong, strategic recruitment pipelines and elevating our hiring standards to meet the company’s evolving needs. As we grow, my goal is to help shape a team that doesn’t just support the business but actively accelerates it and takes The Ortus Club to the next level.
