PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 2025 — Together with Fortinet, The Ortus Club gathered information technology and security leaders in an exclusive roundtable dinner at the Peak, Grand Hyatt Manila. High-level cybersecurity practitioners assembled to speak to the theme, “Secure Networking in a Time of Moving Threats: Elevating Security Operations.” The achievement of an evening of logically challenging discussion, peer interactivity, and refinement in hospitality was a reflection of Fortinet’s consistent invitation through innovation and research to happen upon systems of needs so that they may continue to develop systems and ideas in the development of timely, fine-tuned results while respecting the independent social structures of digital business today.

THE BRIEF

Strengthening Security Through Collaboration and Innovation

As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, Fortinet aimed to deepen its engagement with key IT and security decision-makers in the Philippines. The company aimed to highlight the importance of secure networking, automation, and integrated defence systems in addressing the challenges facing modern enterprises.

To achieve this, Fortinet partnered with The Ortus Club to design a focused and intimate roundtable that would connect senior industry leaders in meaningful discussion. The goal was to foster collaboration, exchange practical insights, and build stronger relationships with executives leading digital transformation across industries. By combining Fortinet’s technical leadership with The Ortus Club’s expertise, the event provided a platform to strengthen both understanding and trust within the cybersecurity community.

THE SETTING

A Refined Evening Above the City

The roundtable was held at The Peak at the Grand Hyatt Manila, which has a breathtaking view of the skyline of the city. The venue’s modern and elegant design was an appropriate backdrop for the meaningful and important conversations. Guests enjoyed a private dining arrangement in which ideas were exchanged, face-to-face, to good effect. Added to this, and making for an even more memorable evening, was the champagne and caviar tasting, conducted by Kevin Charuel, co-founder of The Tasting Club Manila. THE TOPIC

Secure Networking in the Era of Dynamic Threats

The conversation centred on how companies could improve their security operations to deal with the increased threat of cybersecurity risks such as ransomware, phishing and advanced persistent attacks (APTs). Possible solutions included Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and SD-WAN technologies, and possible ways to improve these security infrastructures to increase the agility of the security management that these companies are in charge of.

  • How many approved working plans in the security network work contribute to the riches and means of the company in the accomplishment of its aim, that being its financial end?
  • What may be the cost for the accessory purposes growing out and resulting from the installation of the modern devices for security?
  • How can the advances in the new ideas and findings with respect to the security methods be made non-invasive and without friction?

“Was great to share and learn from industry cyber security leaders, who took their valuable time to attend this event!”

THE INSIGHTS

Evolving Security in a Complex Landscape

The participants noted that cyber attacks are becoming more frequent and more difficult to guard against, since the hackers are using artificial intelligence and machine learning systems to probe and solicit the networks. The discussion also pointed out the necessity for universal security systems with a universal view and early detection of an attack from an enemy. The aims of Fortinet were mentioned as being on the principle of ”Converge and Consolidate” ”, Innovate”, and on the accomplishments of FortiGuard Labs. The leaders agreed that it is necessary that the companies now have a simpler system of adjustment or help for their business and their systems, universal and constant innovation and reliable intelligence to predict and counteract the newer dangers.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

1. Connected and intelligent security systems are the future.
Delegates agreed that having separate systems can lead to confusion and leave security holes. The ability to have a single, connected, networking and security platform allows for instant monitoring, faster response times, and better operational performance. Fortinet’s Converge & Consolidate concept was quoted as a strong example of how simplifying systems can also make defences stronger.

2. Automation and intelligent thinking are going to be key in the future of cybersecurity.
Attacks are growing more complex, and trained personnel are still in great demand, making automation now a requirement. The group discussed how using artificial intelligence, machine learning and dependable threat intelligence sources like those from FortiGuard Labs helps companies predict, detect and stop attacks before they can do serious damage.

3. Both collaboration and continuous innovation are essential elements of security.
“Security is not the sole responsibility of a department anymore,” said the participants in the discussion. “Security is a common problem that affects all the layers of an organisation. By cooperating between the departments and industrial segments, by sharing the knowledge of technical nature and the use of flexible technologies like SASE and SD-WAN, the enterprises can keep their flexibility and develop augmentations to the new and developing dangers from their possible competitors and aggressors.”

The roundtable discussion concluded with a shared ambition to boost the cybersecurity posture across various sectors. Open discussion and shared insights contributed to The Ortus Club and Fortinet’s collaborative effort to build a platform for the IT and security leaders in Manila that allowed for connectedness, growth and leadership in building a more secure digital future.

THE RESULTS

A Thoughtful Exchange on the Future of Cybersecurity

The roundtable gathered 12 senior IT and security leaders from some of the Philippines’  most respected companies, including Ayala Land, Honda Motors, Shangri-La Hotels, and Kasikornbank. The event strengthened Fortinet’s reputation as a trusted leader in cybersecurity and showcased The Ortus Club’s expertise in facilitating high-value discussions among industry peers.

The discussions highlighted how organisations are now using connected and intelligent security systems, automation, and closer collaboration to strengthen their resilience. Attendees shared insights on addressing emerging threats, from ransomware to AI-driven attacks, and discussed how simplifying security frameworks through solutions such as SASE and SD-WAN can lead to better defences.

The evening ended on a shared understanding that trust, transparency, and continuous innovation are key to building a safer digital future. Fortinet and The Ortus Club created an environment where leaders could exchange ideas, build relationships, and reaffirm their commitment to advancing cybersecurity across the region.
