SINGAPORE, OCTOBER 2025 — Recently, The Ortus Club gathered marketing leaders and innovators in Singapore for an evening of knowledge sharing and creative exchange to celebrate a decade of success in hosting executive discussions all over the world. In this milestone event marketing roundtable, we explored how B2B event marketing is evolving from a focus on lead generation to a way to create measurable long-term impact through personalisation, data-driven strategy and human connection.

THE SETTING

Crafting Connection and Celebration

The event unfolded at JAG, a Michelin-starred French omakase restaurant on Duxton Road, Singapore. The environment resided in hushed luxury and elegance, furnished by natural soft light as well as sage greens and a nature-bound ambience. JAG creates with seasonal vegetables and wild herbs from Savoie, France, so much skill, authenticity and artistry. This reflects how The Ortus Club organises its event marketing brainstorming with the same thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

Guests were brought into a setting that fostered free conversation and true bonding. The elegant atmosphere, gracious service and excellent food formed the right setting for an evening of idea sharing and collaboration. This was not merely an Executive Knowledge Sharing: it was a shared experience reminding leaders that the right environment and intent can inspire real engagement.

THE GUESTLIST

Charting a Course with Industry Titans

This year’s roundtable assembled a select group of senior marketing executives, CMOs, heads of regional marketing, and field marketing directors, representing companies in industries including technology, financial services, distribution, and professional services.

These businesses are recognised for their creative abilities and strong influence in their industries. Together, the executives supplied a wide spectrum of experience in marketing, including executives responsible for brand credibility, growth and success evaluations in today’s rapidly changing digital world.

Their different backgrounds formed a strong base for open and honest discussion on the collaborative and data-driven method marketing is taking. The mix of experience and perspective resulted in rewarding discussions about the future of leadership in marketing and the future of event strategy.

THE DETAILS

Meticulous Hospitality and Branded Assets

Every element of the evening was testimony to The Ortus Club’s commitment to the creation of significant experiences, showing how the smallest of details can create the most enduring memories. Guests were welcomed to their tables with branded yacht-shaped abanikos (fans), which created not only a feeling of warmth and culture but comfort from the warm tropical evening in Singapore. The tailored cocktail bar became a lively and social venue, serving exciting cocktails, “The Marketer’s Twist”, “The Executive Spire” and “Insights on the Rocks”, all inspired by creativity and strategies.

The tables were decorated with beautiful hand-painted mini bottles of Moët champagne, with a message on each. The Ortus Club believes that no two events (or people) are alike. Even branded napkin holders are inspired by how imaginative design and branding can enhance the event experience. A highlight of the evening was the introduction of the Ortus icebreaker decks, which had been specially edited with 10th anniversary questions such as “Where were you 10 years ago?” and “How do you see change in your industry over the next 10 years?”

These card questions elicited personality tales and ideas for the future from guests that promoted valuable conversations going beyond the usual networking experience. Even the minutiae, the tiniest detail, were selected with care, reflecting the mood of association, inspiration, and growth experienced by participants.

THE TOPIC

The Evolution of B2B Event Marketing

The core topics of discussion focused on the changing world of B2B event marketing, the result of increasingly tighter budgets, changing expectations of their audience, plus the advancement of digital platforms. Traditional measures such as lead generation are, in the main, being replaced by a total emphasis on relationship building and long-term value.

The marketing heads shared their philosophies, which are evolving, and place more emphasis on personalisation, digital transformation, and cross-departmental collaboration. Smart companies nowadays do not think of Events as singular campaigns, but rather as a community-building opportunity which requires trust and collaboration rather than direct sales.

The consensus suggested that marketing success in the present day is not gauged simply by short-term results, it is by how the executive knowledge sharing stimulates interest, build loyalty and relationships for the future.

THE INSIGHTS

There emerged a strong theme over the evening. The best type of events are those which are real and human touch and smart technology. The consensus of the knowledge sharing event indicated that effective results will come from adding live events and carrying the energy of connection online with the use of digital media.

It was also noted that small events aimed at special target groups are capable of rendering greater results than the large conventions of the past. The use of digital outreach and account-based marketing (ABM) makes inroads into the right people and produces results of note in getting connections. Events with other significant partners are another good technique for developing communities, which are valuable for sharing.

Marketing today is a cooperative effort with sales, HR, IT, etc., rather than selling to them. Partnership means having the same goals and a joint success and growth. Artificial Intelligence and automatic processes render some complexity, but wiser groups and more measurable results are already in evidence. The human element in marketing is trust, relationships, and human touch.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Fewer events create deeper connections. The best outcome, most valuable relationships are achieved with smaller, invitation-only events as opposed to larger events and conferences.
  • Account-based Marketing drives effectiveness. Account-based marketing gives marketers the ability to reach decision makers through personal and measurable impact.
  • Personalisation of events creates memorable experiences. Thoughtful activity and follow-up to the activity turn simple interactions into meaningful impressions.
  • Marketing functions are now in unison. Working together in unison with sales and information technology allows marketing to attain greater business objectives in a common strategy and interest.
  • AI can help, but a human connection is more important. Automation may help create more efficient work practices, but the true asset is remaining effectively human in staying in touch with other people.
