The number of digital-native FSI customers in Thailand continues to rise. Traditional FSI institutes face new challenges in accelerating digital transformation to provide more seamless omnichannel customer experiences. Competition with digital-focused FSI entities has also grown stiffer, thus forcing long-time players in the sector to eliminate their reliance on legacy platforms in the interest of keeping pace with current deployment timeframes for new digital products and services.
Senior decision-makers in traditional FSI organisations have their work cut out for them, however. Several pillars in the FSI world have already made significant strides in developing innovations in open banking. Frameworks for end-user applications and APIs have been set, alongside the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), which should serve as a guide for all players in the sector in their digital transformation efforts.
