Strengthening cybersecurity: Protect the org from identity-based attacks

Today’s IT landscape is a double-edged sword, offering both immense opportunity and risk. The digital blast radius has expanded to include users, devices, networks, apps, and data, exponentially increasing vulnerabilities. Most alarmingly, malicious actors often exploit human error—89% of web app attacks occur due to credential abuse.

Prevalent identity attacks include phishing, password spraying, credential stuffing, man-in-the-middle attacks, and social engineering. These tactics often work due to lax security awareness, poor password hygiene, and outdated security protocols. To secure your organisation, employ multi-factor authentication (MFA) to add an extra layer of security, conduct regular security awareness training for staff, and implement robust network security measures like firewalls and encryption. Continuously monitor for unusual activity and update security policies to stay ahead of attackers, thereby mitigating risks to your business.

  • What are the most prevalent identity attacks companies today face? Why are they so effective?
  • How can leaders secure their organisation from each type of identity attack and mitigate the risks to the business?
  • How will emerging technologies, like AI and ML, impact identity attack prevention strategies?
