Using the right technology to improve prisoner productivity and rehabilitation

Over the years, technology has transformed correctional facilities, specifically the inmate experience. The implementation of telehealth and the enablement of virtual visitations, online counselling, and digital education have gone a long way towards improving inmate welfare and reducing re-accreditation.

However, challenges persist throughout the transformation and the user journey, with facilities continuing to use legacy systems and solutions. More recent innovations in technology have allowed better outcomes to be achieved in more manageable, cost-effective, and secure ways. Now, it is a matter of correctional facilities adopting and taking advantage of technology once again.

  • What challenges and setbacks are correctional facilities experiencing in providing inmates with technology and internet access? What are some solutions?
  • As the world continues to advance technologically, how can correctional facilities successfully rehabilitate inmates through technology?
  • How can institutions build a secure and accessible digital infrastructure for inmates?
