How to evolve cybersecurity strategy against ransomware
Ransomware is no longer just an IT challenge. Instead, it has reached board rooms and beyond. Cybercriminals are becoming more sophisticated in their methods at an astonishing rate, going beyond encrypting production and backup data. They are now stealing (or, more technically, ‘exfiltrating’) organisations’ sensitive data and threatening to expose it on the dark web, in so-called ‘double extortion’ schemes.
To reduce their risk posture, organisations need to understand how to aid in quickly detecting an attack on their IT product systems. They must also identify and classify their sensitive data. Additionally, they must explore the potential of near-time threat detection to help rapidly recover without incurring losses or paying the ransom.
