Tell us about your role at The Ortus Club and how you got there.

As the Client Director at The Ortus Club, my role is to ensure our clients’ events are executed flawlessly from start to finish. I oversee all the moving parts and departments involved to deliver an exceptional event experience that not only meets but also exceeds the expectations of our clients, like Protocol Labs, Vonage, and Dataiku, to bring their vision to life.

My path to this position was an exciting journey. With a deep passion for events and a knack for problem-solving, I started in the industry managing small-scale functions. Through hard work and dedication, I quickly rose through the ranks while building my skills in project management, client relations, and team leadership. When the opportunity at The Ortus Club presented itself, I knew it was the perfect fit to take my career to new heights.

 

What does a typical day at The Ortus Club look like?

No two days are ever the same at The Ortus Club, and that’s part of what makes my job so exciting. A typical day often starts with a lot of catch-up meetings with our account managers and project coordinators. We review the status of upcoming events to ensure that we’re on track to meet deadlines and identify any potential roadblocks that need addressing.

Frequent check-ins with clients are also a must in my daily agenda. I provide live updates on the progress of their events and make sure they’re kept in the loop every step of the way. I’m a strong believer that transparency is key, so I make it a point to manage expectations upfront and be clear about what our talented team can deliver over a period of time.

My role also involves acting as the face of The Ortus Club. I frequently travel, predominantly across Europe, to represent our company at major events. From acting as the Master of Ceremonies to introducing our comprehensive services, I take pride in showcasing the expertise and professionalism that sets our team apart.

Despite the constant hustle, I wouldn’t have it any other way. The fast-paced, ever-changing nature of the events industry is what fuels my passion and drives me to deliver exceptional experiences time and time again.

 

What’s the most challenging part of your role, and how do you overcome this challenge?

While the dynamic nature of my role is incredibly rewarding, it also comes with its fair share of challenges. As a global events company, one of the biggest hurdles we face is managing time differences across various regions. Coordinating with clients and teams spanning multiple time zones can be a logistical maze at times.

We overcome this challenge of time differences by being extremely communicative about every detail of an event. Our teams are in constant check-ins to ensure each task and project is precisely aligned toward our goal of executing world-class knowledge-sharing events globally.

Cross-functional collaboration is vital—our account managers work hand-in-hand with project coordinators, events specialists and venue teams across all time zones. We utilise digital tools that allow seamless sharing of updates, digital assets and deliverables 24/7. While the time differences add complexities, our well-oiled processes and commitment to transparency allow us to plan and execute global events without a hitch. Through this cohesive approach, we can produce elevated experiences that enlighten and inspire audiences worldwide.

 

What’s one achievement you are particularly proud of?

One of the most rewarding achievements in my role is receiving glowing feedback from clients after our team’s hard work pays off. There’s no greater feeling than a satisfied client raving about the exceptional experience we created for their event.

I still vividly remember the rush of pride when one of our long-standing partners left a 5-star review on Google praising The Ortus Club. They commended our team’s dedication, highlighting how we went above and beyond to turn their vision into a flawless reality. Seeing that positive testament wasn’t just a personal pat on the back but a hard-earned recognition for the incredible talent and tireless efforts of everyone involved.

Moments like these reinforce why I dedicate myself to this fast-paced industry day in and day out. Knowing that our work directly translates into meaningfully engaging our clients’ audiences and leaving long-lasting impressions is the ultimate benchmark of success.

 

What do you like most about working with The Ortus Club?

There’s something truly special about meeting face-to-face with the clients we’ve collaborated with so closely leading up to their event. Getting to shake their hand, see their excitement firsthand, and forge those personal connections makes all the long hours and dedication feel worthwhile.

Then, to actually experience the finale of our team’s efforts in some of the most beautiful, iconic venues is simply awe-inspiring. I still get goosebumps watching an immaculate ballroom or historic theatre transformed into the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience that we’ve helped create.

More than just logistics, getting to be present as our clients’ long-envisioned events finally come alive is a feeling like no other. Witnessing their joy and receiving that affirmation that we’ve exceeded expectations—that’s what makes this career so special and drives me to keep finding new ways to create better and better events each time.
