As an Account Manager nurturing meaningful connections between clients and industry leaders, Benz Limsenkeng brings a passion for curating memorable experiences that spark impactful discussions. His journey from Project Coordinator to overseeing an expert team exemplifies The Ortus Club’s commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships that amplify clients’ strategies and bring them closer to greater success.

What is your role, and how did you get there?

As an Account Manager, I help our clients reach their lead-generation goals through event marketing. I do this while managing an experienced team of project directors.

Starting as a Project Coordinator, my role initially revolved around curating memorable experiences that captivated our executive guest list. In today’s fast-paced world, leaders are inundated with event invites daily. However, we stand out by organising bespoke corporate events that pique interest and spark meaningful discussions.

We’re obsessive about ensuring every single stakeholder—clients, guests, venues, moderators and even our internal team—gains tangible value from our events. With everyone wholeheartedly invested, the potential for fostering meaningful connections and driving measurable ROI is immense. It’s this pursuit of excellence that propelled me, and the whole team really, in a position of influence within industries.

Ever since I was new to The Ortus Club, I’ve always enjoyed collaborating with our clients and helping my juniors improve their work. After years of practice and learning the ropes, I’m happy to have reached the position I am in right now.

 

When you’re not at work, how do you spend your time?

During my free time, I like to clean up my place and my laptop because I believe that a clean workspace translates to clear mind space. As a person passionate about learning and improvement, I also find myself going down a rabbit hole about better communication techniques, people management, and new technologies. However, catching up on sleep usually trumps all that!

I think what sets us apart from other event partners is our passion for making sure each step of the event preparation is the best that it could be. We don’t simply view guests as one-event attendees but rather build lasting relationships founded on personalised experiences tailored to their preferences. From the moment they receive our invitation to the seamless on-site logistics and the post-event follow-up, our guests can expect a white-glove level of service and attention to detail.

This commitment to creating meaningful connections extends far beyond the event itself. We make it a point to remember our guests, value their time, and proactively nurture these relationships through consistent touchpoints. Because of these, our attendance rates are usually higher, and our guests are incredibly keen to connect with our co-hosts and peers even after our events.

 

What is the most exciting part of your role?

After wrapping up an event, it’s always so fulfilling to be told by clients that the guest list is well-curated and very relevant to the topic at hand. It’s also incredible to hear from not just our clients but also our guests and partners that the entire event and communication process was handled smoothly and professionally.

Our unwavering commitment to client satisfaction drives every decision we make. The team thrives on crafting extraordinary moments that leave a lasting impression on attendees and deliver tangible returns for our clients. From the initial concept to the final curtain call, we pour our hearts into making each event successful. I am always happy to hear that our sense of teamwork is evident to everyone around us.


What is the most challenging part of the role, and how do you overcome it?

One of the greatest challenges of dealing with people, especially senior decision-makers, is that we cannot perfectly control what will happen. That’s the events world for you. Though it can be frustrating, we use this as motivation to work harder. A guest can’t make it? We’re happy to set up a virtual call at a convenient time. Someone is not responsive? We’ll try different communication platforms. Someone said they can’t make it anymore? We’ll ask for a representative to go on their behalf. There are always solutions!

 

What is one of the most memorable events that comes to mind?

Any event that had everyone laughing and chatting the night away is a memorable one, and plenty come to mind! I’ve personally seen the firm shaking of hands, heard the delightful clinking of wine glasses, and felt the deepening relationships among industry leaders. It’s incredibly fulfilling! And I’m honoured to have been through these in Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and many other cities!

Stepping into new cities always adds an exciting layer of complexity and creativity to our events. One particularly memorable experience was our first-ever event in the vibrant city of Mumbai. Our events team loves finding offerings and services to elevate our experiences. For Mumbai, they hit a home run by incorporating a car pick-up service into the experience. This brilliant addition ensured attendees would make it to the event, allowing us to deliver an exceptional experience from start to finish.
