As the Head of Partnerships for the European and North American regions, Marcella deftly juggles spearheading strategies, nurturing a talented team of partnership professionals, and forging lasting client partnerships that drive The Ortus Club’s success. In this insightful post, Marcella shares what she values most—the collaborative, growth-oriented culture that empowers her to push boundaries while being part of a supportive team making a real difference.

What are you responsible for at The Ortus Club?

At The Ortus Club, my role is a real juggling act—but I wouldn’t have it any other way! As the Head of Partnerships in the EU and North America, I am entrusted with the responsibility of spearheading our sales strategies and forecasting to keep us one step ahead of the competition in this fast-paced industry.

I also take great pride in nurturing and developing our talented team of sales professionals. From recruiting fresh talent to providing top-notch training, my team and I make great efforts to help the team excel at their craft while also embodying the core values of our company.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the opportunity to forge lasting relationships with our esteemed clients. I love seeking out new partnerships while simultaneously nurturing our current ones. Through these strong connections, we can truly understand the unique needs of our clients and tailor our events accordingly.

Last but not least, I oversee the overall management of our dynamic West partnerships team. We’re a tight-knit team that constantly pushes each other to bring our very best to every single event. Success is a team effort, and we’ve got the dream team.

 

How did you get to your current role?

My journey to becoming Head of Partnerships has been a true adventure. I started off in operations, immersing myself in the heart of The Ortus Club by learning how to curate experiences for industry leaders. From there, I worked my way up to Client Director, building vital relationships and crafting unforgettable experiences that support them in achieving their goals.

When the opportunity arose to lead the western partnerships team, combining my operational savvy with client expertise, I jumped at the chance. This role has allowed me to sharpen my public speaking skills, representing not just The Ortus Club but myself with poise and professionalism at events around the world!

 

What’s one achievement you are particularly proud of in your career?

One career achievement I’m particularly proud of is my contribution to creating the Account Manager role at The Ortus Club. It was a pivotal moment that really elevated our client experience.

Back in the early days, we recognised the need for a dedicated point person to manage our client relationships. Someone who could truly understand their needs, anticipate their wants, and be a trusted advisor every step of the way. So we developed robust training programs, outlining everything from client communication to event logistics mastery.

But the real reward came when we started to see the first batch of Account Managers in action. Watching them build client relationships and unwavering commitment to delivering excellence is when I knew we were onto something special. Even now, years later, I still get a huge sense of pride when I see our account management team in their element. They are the backbone of our client relationships, the ones who make the magic happen.

 

Which initiative are you most excited about that you have planned for your department?

I am most excited about our initiative to onboard new team members and grow our partnerships team. This allows us to bring in fresh perspectives and talents to drive our upcoming marketing campaigns and events to new heights. By investing in comprehensive training and actively participating in marketing efforts myself, I’m committed to nurturing the next generation of partnership superstars and propelling The Ortus Club toward continued innovation and success.

 

What makes your role special? What difference does your role make in the marketing world?

What makes my role so special is the unique opportunity to combine my invaluable experience from the operations side with my talent for cultivating meaningful client relationships. It’s a powerful blend that allows me to not only lead my team effectively but also elevate The Ortus Club as a whole.

We are not just in the business of creating amazing events—we’re facilitating knowledge-sharing and innovation on a global scale. One of our core missions is to establish more platforms where experts from around the world can come together, exchange ideas, and push boundaries. In many ways, my role is that of a facilitator: bringing together logistical excellence and client professionalism to shape industries, forge new collaborations, and ultimately make a difference in the marketing world and beyond.

What do you like most about working with The Ortus Club?

From the moment I stepped through the doors of The Ortus Club, I was welcomed with open arms into an environment that truly values collaboration, creativity, and having each other’s backs. We don’t just work together—we laugh together, celebrate wins together, and push each other to new heights every single day. I know I can rely on my colleagues, and they can count on me in return. We’re a team in every sense of the word.

The team, especially our management, actively encourages professional growth and empowers us to shape our roles. New ideas are discussed with open minds to give us the freedom to innovate and push the norm. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to expand my skillset, redefine what my position looks like, and truly make a tangible impact.
