Our Partnership Manager
When first joining The Ortus Club’s marketing team in 2020, Martie took on big responsibilities including interviewing c-level executives and acting as the brand voice on social media. Now, as Partnerships Manager, she continues to build strong business relationships by securing exclusive event venues and service providers across the globe.
What was your first week at The Ortus Club like?
In all honesty, the first week was a tad overwhelming for me. I had to process a lot of things and get used to all the software being used. However, my connection with the team felt instant and I soon got to grips with everything. I love the people I work with and the team encourages me, especially when I am faced with a challenge.
What surprised you the most when joining The Ortus Club?
I was surprised by the amount of trust they had vested in me as a newbie. I’m still quite young so it was a shock when I was given responsibilities like interviewing Chief Marketing Officers from major corporations around the world for the company’s Ortus Chats video series. I felt a little bit intimidated when I first had to contact senior executives, but over time The Ortus Club has helped shape me into becoming more of a professional myself.
What do you find most challenging about your role at The Ortus Club?
Deadlines are challenging, especially when you’re trying to book venues or you find a supplier who requires a lot of management. You have to be on the ball when working in partnerships and you need to take the extra initiative to get things done on time and done well.
What do you look forward to at work every day?
I look forward to our End of Day virtual hangouts. The majority of our team are still working from home due to the pandemic and sometimes work can be difficult without that “human connection” we have when we’re all in the office. The End of Day sessions really help boost morale and keep the team engaged. My favourite day is Friday because we get the chance to have one-on-one time with other people we don’t usually chat with in the company. It’s also a great chance to meet the new team members.

What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
I would say that hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. The reason why you are where you are is because of the skill-set that you possess, but what’s going to take you to the next level is a strong work ethic.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I believe that sharing your talents is a good thing, so I don’t keep them secret! However, some may not know that I’ve recently started a role as a fitness instructor for The Movement Studio. I coach during the weekends mostly and I hope I get to partner up with The Ortus Club to lead a session for the team soon! It would be great to have a workout session for team building.
