PHILIPPINES, AUGUST 2025 — An Executive Roundtable was conducted by The Ortus Club in partnership with SEON, which assembled top Risk and Compliance professionals as well as Financial Technology Executives to discuss the evolving trend of financial crime, like fraud and Credit Challenges and how to remain at the forefront, utilising smarter systems, leveraging data more intelligently and fostering a greater sense of collaboration.
This event took place in the middle of Bonifacio Global City and provided the opportunity for senior-level industry professionals to engage in meaningful discussions and share their knowledge as they work to define the future of fraud prevention in a digital market.
Combining Business & Genuine Connection
At the Garden Pavilion of the Grand Hyatt in Manila, an environment of trust and innovation perfectly balanced the setting for the event. The beautiful glass-walled pavilion surrounded the guests’ comfortable seating and lush greenery created an atmosphere that fostered open and meaningful communication; this space allowed guests to relax and enjoy each other’s company while still being able to engage in conversations about their profession. Once the sun had set on the Manila City Skyline, the venue changed into a warm and inviting space by way of soft lighting, signature cocktails, and a variety of appetisers (small plates), which allowed guests to engage in both professional and social dialogue.
All aspects of the evening’s details contributed to its appeal. From the simple elegance of the tablescape to the delicate floral arrangements, the entire space welcomed guests to converse, reflect, and collaborate under the glow of the Manila City Skyline.

Leaders Shaping The Future of Fraud Prevention
The executive roundtable gathered senior executives from fraud, credit, and compliance, including Chief Risk and Compliance Officers, Heads of Fraud Management, Audit executives and VPs of Engineering.
Participants came from leading fintechs, lenders, and financial institutions, both in the Philippines and in the Asia Pacific region. Even if their institutions varied in size and structure, all shared a common goal to create faster, smarter, and more reliable fraud and risk systems that inspire trust while giving clients an easy and safe experience.

Creating the Perfect Setting for Discussion
During the entire evening, it was apparent how strongly The Ortus Club had focused on Quality & Hospitality for its guests. Guests were greeted with their own white stainless steel tumbler, which featured SEON’s teal logo, a nice, functional keepsake representing SEON’s Clean, Modern style, along with branded notepads and pens provided for each guest at their seats to record important ideas discussed during the meeting.
Although elegant in design, the setting remained simple and understated through the use of polished glassware, name cards and soft floral arrangements. All of it blended to create a comfortable and professional environment in which all attendees felt free to exchange ideas.

The Growing Challenge of Modern Fraud
Participants discussed how rapidly changing financial crimes were occurring at a speed at which many organisations’ systems could not adapt in time to provide adequate protection against the growing credit risk to business. The participants spoke about their own challenges they had faced from synthetic digital identity thefts, account takeover scams, organised criminal fraud rings, etc., as these types of financial crime continue to be increasingly difficult to identify.
Rather than simply adding more layers of security, the group expressed the need for building smarter systems; systems that would utilise data collected through a consumer’s digital footprint, behavioural analysis, and non-traditional forms of credit scoring to assist both in identifying potential fraud and to make better decisions related to those identified potential threats.
All participants agreed that this type of approach would serve to reduce fraud-related credit risk while improving the overall KYC and AML experience by eliminating unnecessary delays and issues associated with the process of detecting fraud.
Aligning Goals for Smarter Risk Management
Collaboration was the theme throughout this conversation. The participants felt that fraud, credit, and compliance groups cannot work separately anymore due to the rapidly changing threat. Fraud, credit, and compliance groups have to start sharing information, aligning goals and working together with a common strategy.
The leaders discussed the need for a mindset, moving away from reactive compliance to proactive intelligence. Using shared platforms and encouraging teamwork will allow companies to prevent fraud as a strategic asset that builds both growth and trust.
