As an Account Manager/Team Lead at The Ortus Club, Roman is committed to giving his best in everything he does, which sets him apart from others. He believes that staying happy and competing with oneself is crucial to driving one’s performance even further. In a fast-paced working environment, Roman has successfully handled various guesting situations by staying focused and developing solutions that satisfy both guests and the company. He believes that learning as much as one can and believing in oneself are keys to achieving success.
What is your role, and how did you get there?
My journey to my current role has been anything but straightforward. Initially coming from a different industry, I never anticipated that guesting would be something I’ll be doing and be good at. I began as a guesting director, working across various teams and collaborating with different client directors, all while striving to excel in producing great events despite limited client exposure at the time.
My breakthrough came when I started working on North American projects. These events turned out to be a strong suit for me, allowing me to improve my client communication and truly enjoy the process. While my initial goal was to secure an ATL role, Ortus recognised my potential for a Team Lead position focused on North American projects. Seizing this opportunity, I transitioned into the Team Lead role, starting with a small team of four and gradually expanding to six members, with whom I have developed a strong synergy. This role eventually led to my current position as an Account Manager, where I now work closely with a wide range of clients and represent Ortus.
What makes you the best at what you do? What values drive you to perform even better?
I believe that my commitment to doing my best in everything I do distinguishes me from others. Whether it’s a job objective or a personal goal, I always give my all to achieve the greatest results possible. This approach has enabled me to flourish in past roles and achieve success in other areas of my life.
Furthermore, I am motivated by two basic beliefs that help me perform even better: maintaining a positive attitude and competing with myself. I believe that a positive mindset is contagious, and it helps me stay motivated even when things are difficult. By remaining optimistic, I am able to tackle issues with a can-do attitude and devise inventive strategies to overcome them. Furthermore, I am always striving to develop and evolve, and I gauge my progress by comparing myself to where I was three months or a year ago. Setting reasonable objectives and tracking my progress allows me to push myself to new heights and accomplish things I never believed possible—in this case, the reader of the market.
What challenges have you proudly overcome in such a fast-paced working environment?
I never knew guesting would be difficult, as it needs a quick reaction to new knowledge and unforeseen scenarios. Despite the challenges, I am glad to say that I have successfully handled several guesting situations by remaining focused and not allowing my emotions to interfere.
I was able to face each scenario head-on and develop answers that satisfied both the guest and the firm, whether it was unanticipated adjustments to an event or demands that were outside of the intended scope. By doing so, I have won my colleagues’ trust and respect, and I have maintained a high degree of professionalism in even the most trying circumstances.
I believe that my ability to remain focused and level-headed in difficult situations is a fundamental strength that enables me to flourish in a fast-paced work environment. I am able to adapt fast and find creative solutions to any problem that may occur by maintaining a solution-oriented mindset and not becoming emotionally involved. As a result, I’ve been able to generate excellent outcomes for the company while also having a beneficial impact on the team.

When working with The Ortus Club, clients can expect a highly effective and professional process for bringing C-level executives together to discuss key challenges. Securing availability and confirmations from top executives requires time and skill, but we are confident in our approach and committed to delivering exceptional results.

If a project encounters obstacles, we ensure timely and transparent communication, working with clients to determine the best course of action. As an Account Manager, I prioritise clear and consistent communication, guiding clients through our guesting process and ensuring they are fully informed and supported throughout our collaboration.

The most exciting part of my role as an Account Manager is the dynamic blend of working with diverse teams and engaging with a wide range of clients. I relish the opportunity to experiment with different management styles and take the lead on projects as the primary point of contact, all while building strong relationships with clients. Additionally, as a Team Lead, I am passionate about planning and strategising with my team. I enjoy learning from their unique perspectives and approaches to project challenges, and I find great fulfilment in guiding them toward growth. Witnessing their development and helping them reach their full potential is incredibly rewarding, and I aspire to see them excel and become outstanding leaders in their own right.
One of the most memorable events for me was my first-ever solo project, WPLACE_NORD . Initially, I was unfamiliar with the process and focused solely on following instructions from my Team Lead and Client Director. Despite a tight timeline and the nervousness —since it was our first event in the Nordics—I persisted with follow-ups and managed to secure 10 attendees. Their guidance was crucial in overcoming the challenges and delivering a successful event.
Another standout event was COUCH_CHI_III, which showcased my guesting skills, particularly in North America. For this project, I successfully secured 18 RSVPs when the goal was 8-12. The event went off without a hitch, with engaging guests and a fantastic moderator. It remains one of my favourite events due to its smooth execution and the positive experience it provided.
I believe that the future holds great things for The Ortus Club, and I am excited to be a part of it. The company is only going to get bigger, and I think that there are many opportunities for growth and expansion in the coming years. As we continue to develop new relationships and expand our network, I believe that we will be able to offer even more value to our clients and partners.
As for my role in realising that vision, I simply do my best. I take pride in the work that I do, and I am committed to delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients and guests. If given a bigger responsibility, I am up for the challenge and ready to take on whatever comes my way. Ultimately, I believe that success is a team effort, and I am committed to doing my part to help The Ortus Club achieve its goals and continue to thrive in the years to come.
